Do I Need a Will?
If you want to make sure that your assets are distributed in line with your wishes, then you need to make a Will. Without a Will, your estate will be distributed according to intestacy rules and may be liable to Inheritance Tax, which might have been avoided if you had made a Will.
FIND OUT MORE ABOUT LAWS OF INTESTACY
If you have made a Will then gifts between spouses are free from Inheritance tax, and if you want your spouse to benefit from the whole estate, then making a Will will ensure that the estate will not be distributed according to the laws of intestacy.
Trusts
Trusts are a great way to control what happens to your money when you die, and are used commonly for Inheritance Tax planning. Using a professional to set up a Trust give you the ability to control your money after you die. You can decide that your spouse can use the assets while they are alive and, when they die, direct the assets to go to your children as opposed to their next spouse or their children.
Lasting Power of Attorney
It is a fact that we do not always maintain true thought during our lives.
